Do I help my eggs? Day 22.

I will definitely keep you all posted.

Her belly is really round, lol.
Is this normal? It's like you can see where the yolk sac is inside of her.

Thank you, I get worried so easy! My first chick took less than 12 hours to completely hatch and she was a day early

What a darling! The roundness is normal, since the yolk is just about the last thing drawn into the abdominal cavity. I think she is going to be just fine! :)
For some reason, I'm suddenly thirsty for a Coke...;)

Lol!

Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear its normal. I really hope she is ok. She seems pretty determined.

I just checked on my chick and she climbed out of the carton and ended up across to the other side of the incubator.
She is still dragging her egg shell with her.
I was able to cut the egg shell and membrane that had no veins attached, and I made it as small as I could.

The veins are attached to a clump which has more veins which is attached to the membrane/egg shell.

What do I do? Right now she is sitting in a cup lined with paper towels, to keep her movement down. I don't want her to make herself bleed more than she has to.

I noticed while helping her this last time that she has a crackling sound in her lungs that you can feel and hear when she breathes.

I had a chick like this once before (with the crackling breathing) and it ended up dying after a week.

Any idea what causes the crackling breathing?

I have dental floss, should I tie it around the veins? If so where? Or should I just leave her in her little cup and hopefully the veins will dry up?

Not sure about the crackling in her lungs. I hope it clears up quick! As for the piece of egg and stuff attached, I would just let her be at this point. It will dry up and fall off eventually. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'm not sure how to do the dental floss thing. I've always just let things dry up and fall off. I've had a chick that had a string thing dried up on it for about 4 days before it fell off. lol
