Hi all!

So my eggs were due to hatch by 2pm today. All but 2 pipped last night. Those that pipped were all out of shell by 2pm.

Then I have these 2 eggs:
1. Egg A I think is dead. See first candling pictures. Should I make external pip just in case it’s not dead?

2. Egg B was developing well before lockdown. Tgt no pip but I heard knocking inside. So I choose to assist bc these were shipped eggs w wonky air cells and I was concerned this chick was malpositioned. So I broke shell and made tiny hole in fat end where I predicted the pip to be and to my surprise i saw orange yolk wrapped in membrane, red veins and some other black structure BUT ALL OF THIS WAS AWAY FROM OUTER SHELL. Meaning there is lots of EXTRA space. So I put back in incubator with wet paper towels and tiny sponge on top of paper towels all on top of hole I made to prevent complete drying out.

2 hours passed and nothing happened after I made hole. It seems this chick is NOT READY (hence liquidy orange yolk) or its dead.

What are my next steps here? I want to give this chick ever fighting chance.

See attached pics. Egg A is first followed by Egg B. Egg B pics start to with pic labeled “A2A.....”

When you are candling the malpositioned egg, can you see any semblance of a beak in the small end? What about a bruise-like colouring on the external shell? Is it moving at all?

I actually have NO IDEA HOW THIS CHICK IS POSITIONED do you?

I made the assumption it was mal positioned but unsure ?
It looks like its head is in the wrong end of the egg, as the yolk is supposed to be located in the small end.

Did you candle and check for a beak, or bruising? Most importantly, is it still alive? Are you seeing any movement? I am not very comfortable with assisting wrong end malpositions without an external pip. Maybe @casportpony can help.

With that muck yolk showing, I think it would be best to leave it alone. Maybe put some tape over the hole and hope for the best.
