thats odd my parents got some from them and they looked like they were supposed to a nice dark red with good foot feathering.My red Cochin chicks (from Ideal Hatchery) looked just like that as they feathered in. I was quite disappointed with their coloring, which is why I don't have them anymore. I was expecting a deep mahogany colored bird like the picture on their website, what I ended up with was a more dark buff colored bird. They were very sweet, but they also lacked good feathering on their middle toes (especially when compared to the buff and blue Cochins I ordered with them). Good luck!
