Baby with the big hole doesn’t seem to be yawning anymore and is chirping like crazy

I don’t really have an answer, but I would assume momma knows what she is doing. Is this her first? I don’t know if that will help anyone or if it will matter. I hope everything goes ok!

Yes this is her first time. She seems to be pretty roughly nipping at the two babies that actually hatched as well

If it was me, granted I haven’t had any hatch yet but through a lot of reading, I would separate them. I have seen some horrible pictures of mommas pecking at the babies. It’s heartbreaking. I would set them up in a brooder with a heat lamp. You may have to be the one to raise them.

Although I have heard that they need to be in a moist envroment for about 24 hours after they hatch. Is this true?

Chip the egg all the way around carefully, stop if you see any blood vessels. If you hit a blood vessel wait an hour and then try again.

Yes, I would seperate under heat lamp if mama is hurting babies. Mine didn't do that.

There's some really good hatch assist articles on here to walk you through it.

Well I don’t know about moist. I have read that when they hatch in an incubator that you let them dry off in there and then they can go into the brooder. Do you have an incubator? Are the ones that are hatched dry?
