Hello!

I have a 5 month old Orpington who has been sneezing, coughing, and panting (only after she sneezes) I have tylan -amox that I used on my 2 year old hens last year. I hear the other hens sneezing, just not as much as her.

Should I treat the whole flock (the easy way) or just does her?

It is 10 degrees f. Right now and we have fresh snow. I keep the coop clean and have good ventilation. She has been having symptoms for a few weeks, as I have been monitoring her in case it was just climate changes.

Thank you!

What is the medicine you are going to treat her with? Is it Tylosin and Amoxicillin seperate, or is it a single product "tylan-amox"? Please provide details about what medicine you gave your 2 year old, was it amoxicillins and tylosin in tablets or liquid form?

Any natural remedies you can provide? I live in a tropical climate, so dont know the natural immune boosters for cold weather, but are there any you know of? Oregano tea or natural supplements that can be given to provide immune support?

If it is a respiratory infection, they all have it or will have it, so I’d treat everyone. Any other symptoms- running nose, discharge, etc.? And what’s your set up like? Could you have a dust or mold problem?

It is a combined powder.
I have put garlic in their water. That is all I have tried. I know about oregano, but keep forgetting to get it.

I dont see much discharge, but it is hard to see. I have fresh pine shavings down and keep the coop door open until bed time. I dont see mold

Something like this. That would be better to give for the whole flock for sure. You can't miss treatments so better to replace their water with medicated water.

As long as you are not selling their eggs or giving them away because of the egg withdrawal.

Good ideas. It could very well be a ventilation issue and/or with fresh pine. Whether or not depends on if op can post a photo of the coop. Im not a winter chicken keeper, but the moisture in the air and cool temperatures create the ideal devastating condition for the bacteria to grow in their systems.

Too little ventilation may be a cause of their sickness when you close the door at night.
