Yep a purple egg - one of my BO's lays it - the weirdest darn thing - well its not like PURPLE PURPLE - but its not pink and its not brown - very weird. The one she laid yesterday had little white speckles all over it!
Don't know what happened to the reply I thought I put here
but,
Tiki244, I'm so sorry that happened to your chooks. And I appreciate the advice.
I think the brahmas will work out just fine here. And I'm so glad it was my SO's idea that I order more. That way I won't have to put up with any complaining when he learns that we now have to double the size of our planned coop.
They are by far my favorite, though my old plain white Rocks are pretty fun girls to have around too. I like a white chicken I guess...my mother in law came over (like, months after I had gotten chickens) and saw my Brahmas, the speckled sussex, etc and was like, "Oh, you have the pretty chickens..." okay? She said she doesn't like the plain old white "farm" chickens
I didn't tell her about the ten WR pullets that were in the brooder at that time.
You know, I've also fallen for the standard Cochins, the BLR Wyandottes, and the Salmon Favorelle's too, and I haven't gotten any yet. From what I have read though, they are pretty nice to have around-and look at to
I have all of those above on order; well, except for the BLRW...ordered from Welp's (don't carry them) and Ideal, and Ideal only has the bantams.
Of course, I see you've already ordered more Brahmas
