We got some mandarin ducks a few weeks ago, they are very pretty, but they are scared of us, big time. When the female lays her eggs, will she lay/hatch them or do I need an incubator, I'm guessing she would hatch them her self since she is a wild duck, but I am just making sure.

I'm not a huge duck expert, but I was in Poultry Bowl, so I know quite a bit. Most domestic ducks rarely ever go broody, so chances are your Mandarin won't lay on her eggs. You also use broody chickens or broody Muscovies, but an incubator would be good. Remember to turn the eggs, and it also helps to spring daily with warm water to increase humidity.

I don't know if you know, but the mandarins are NOT domestic ducks, they are a wild breed. So they broody their own eggs in the wild, I am wondering if you would do the same in captivity or as a pet, Im sure they would, I just need facts, not guesses.

If they are not domestic, then probably yes (thanks for reminding me). I believe she'd lay one egg per day. I found this discussion, it may help. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/483033/mandarin-ducks-laying-eggs
