Do my 5 week old chicks need heat?

Hi,
I have the chicks in a coop outside with pine shavings.
I have a ceramic heat lamp that goes on at night around 9 pm and off around 5 am.
Do they still need heat?
High 70 s daytime and 50s at night.

Probably not.... but I would turn it off and watch them and see if they look comfortable.

What do I watch for? Right now it is 65 in coop. And they are roosting on the top bar. All snug together

They are not freezing to death, I promise.

They don't need heat at 5 weeks. They're big enough now. I put mine out at 4 weeks with lows in the 40's and they did fine w no heat.

Nice! First time w chicks! Or chickens for that matter. Should I ween it off or just jump in and turn it off?

Yay for your first time with chicks I would say no they don't need heat once they are fully feathered. I would just shut it off unless your temp drops dramatically within the next few days during the night.

I'd say just turn it off. It could be a fire hazard. They have down jackets.

I honestly think they'll be fine without heat at that age, and those temperatures
