Do my hens have lice or mites? Pics included

I hope that helps the birds.You should be very careful and use gloves because some infections can be spread to humans. I really don't think it's mites or lice especially if you didn't see any around the wound. This has to be a skin infection or bacteria. Best of luck!

Yes!! I'm a crazed hand washing fiend. My hands are a wreck from it.

Anyway... I will wear gloves and check tomorrow. From what I remember it just seems like normal skin, just red. Not like a sore or blister. Just red chicken skin

I'd diagnose what the ailment is before coating everything with poison....did you see any bugs or evidence of them before the Sevin application?
I'm very curious as to what these conditions are caused from.

I adopted an injured and neglected hen, we named her Tootsie-I made a post about her wonky feet, she also had a super red bare belly and vent when we got her. Looked a lot like your pics. I noticed as I treated her feet in warm epsom baths she rested her belly in the water as well and would fall asleep. The epsom drastically reduced the redness after a few days. I also applied neosporin to the red areas. She is now mostly all back to normal chicken skin color and can now last on straw without it hurting her belly. We found that the straw was poking on her tender bald spots so we removed it until she healed up. She still doesn't have feathers on her belly, I wonder if they will ever grow back. I don't even see any follicles, its pretty much smooth. Thats not normal right?

Those are indeed fowl lice. Dust them with Diatomaceous Earth. This stuff works awesome and you can buy it in large amounts at various pet stores. It gets in the pests' airways and they asphyxiate and fall off. Dust them once every two weeks, but be sure to apply the dust directly to their skin, and if possible, directly on the bugs. These bugs live in the fluff on their bums, chest and sometimes in their wings. At first the chickens might get scared, but holding them on their backs and soothing them will calm them down.

Garlic also helps. It gets internal parasites and the smell penetrates the skin, so the bugs are quickly gone if you don't have the dust. Your chickens may smell a bit like garlic, but that's okay. My girls love garlic and if they manage to get a hold of the whole bulb they will eat it.

Looks like lice to me. It's not a single application with sevine. You need to reapply in 10 days, clean the coop from top to bottom and replace the nesting material.
I don't mess around with DE, it can also cause upper respiratory issues.

I did all this and they still have bare bellies. NOT around the vent like I've seen other people post pics of. I have never seen any mites or lice. No evidence of bugs, nits, eggs etc. They are laying, eating, pooping etc normally. Never any mites on an egg, roost etc. I went out at night 2X and inspected them with a headlamp and nothing. I feel like I'm causing more harm than good by putting the Sevin on them. They really put up a stink but I did do it very thoroughly. I'm in watch and wait mode and hopefully their feathers grow out with their fall molt.

Mmm, frustrating. You know I've never seen a mite on my chickens but when they do have them I know it. About 10 minutes after I've given them a cuddle I'll feel something crawling on me. Some of them are so small but they feel like a baby elephant walking on you. If all else fails perhaps an antibacterial wipe down with acv. And as you say , just wait and see.
