Do Pekins go through a bill color change or is this something else?

I bought this duckling along with three Khaki Campell ducklings out of a bin where all the other ducklings were yellow and Pekin-looking. I picked this one because you had to buy in pairs and it was a little "dusty" looking over its yellow so it stood out to me. Now at a little over a week old its bill is greying on top.

Well I’m not too sure but when Ducks go into lay their bill changes colour.

I am wondering if it is not a pekin since you said it has a dusting. Is there anyway to take a more clear photo so that we can see the dusting colors?

Bill is grayish purple. The dusting disappeared after the 2nd or 3rd day. In person his/her head is ever so slightly darker around the front half of the head.

I've had two pekin ducks with flesh colored bills... one even had freckles! It might turn orange and it might not. You can try feeding certain foods to enhance the color (there is a post about that somewhere), but I think these strains might have some Aylesbury mixed in or something like that.

Welsh harlequins bill colors change during the first couple of weeks of life. The color they hatch with is a pretty accurate way of sexing them, but then they change. Females start out pink and go grey. They look dustier than pekins.
