Do people raise quail to sell eggs for consumption?

And I'm pretty sure I know of a gal who has chicks for sale

If you don't want to incubate that is

Someone else coming over to the dark side! Having just got into it, (and for meat--not eggs) I haven't had enough eggs to try eating, since all mine have gone in the bator. But, I'm sure there will come a day. so, how long do you boil a quail egg?

Pickled eggs is the plan here! I'm getting up to 10 eggs a day now, so it shouldn't be hard to do! Of course, I sell eggs for hatching and sell birds as well, but the main reason I wanted these was for the eggs

I have boiled my by just letting the pan start to boil and then turning off the flame. Let the pan cool down and then peal and enjoy.

My pens look just like Boyd's but I built them to fit 3 of the catering-sized lasagna pans. Easy to clean; just dump in the garden. It's a win/win. Quail are easy to raise and easy to keep. I sell most of my eggs but try to hang on to some to pickle. I have a great hot/spicy pickled egg recipe. They keep for a very long time if you can them in the water bath. DD and I just enjoyed a quail casserole dinner too. Also I agree - the jumbo eggs are speckled; I've never had a white one so those must be bob whites. I usually sell fresh quail eggs for eating here for $5/dozen. Hatching eggs are about the same.

Cindy, how many do you keep in your cages? with basically a 2x8 cage setup, 16 should max it out, but they have Soooooooooooooooooooooo much room in there. I'm thinking of building another one
