That's true too I guess. On a side note. Do you know you can't really see their eyes? I looked and looked and they are hidden way in there.

Either way, I would relocate it far, far away if you have dogs. One of our dogs tangled with a porcupine a few nights ago and I was up until 3:00am pulling the quills out of his poor face

He is fine now, but it was not an enjoyable time for either of us.

Like everyone else said, you're safe. Porcupines eat plants, no meat. Something else could have taken the meat or he may have chewed on it for the salt. Just watch out for them, my dog tangled with one once,

she had some in the roof of her mouth. The horse also got a nose full a few years back, poor guy, he is so accident prone.

Porcupines are very docile and are strictly herbivores.
Docile that is until you threaten one. I've ruined many a good tire accidently hitting a porcupine so I wouldn't want to test a quill personally. Their belly fur is the softest smoothest fur I've ever touched though. Just the opposite of the top side. I think the only thing that saved them from the trappers of the 1800's was there's not a lot of the soft stuff and WAY too much of the gotcha stuff.
