Do quail need roosts or nest boxes?

looks good! ever think about turning the cage on its side and putting hardware cloth down for the bottom? you could give them twice as much sq. ft. that way (and have twice as many quail

). may be messier on the floor but a thought.

keep it up, nice pics.

My female bob likes a small basket from goodwill and some twigs from one of the bushes. The basket is rinsed off and sunned dry and lasts at least a month. I change the twigs twice a week.

Coturnix will drop their eggs anywhere. Most of mine wind up in the dust pan.

I'm just happy that they are not sticky, or I would be hunting them on the ceiling!

Nice flashy site and iPad friendly. Liked the bee story. I have always wanted bees. Seems like someone that I know always has strong reactions to their string.

NOT A BOB IN THE LOT OF THEM... COTURNIX 1 AND ALL

Thanks for identifying them for a quail newbie like me! Now, how to figure out the males from the females?! I am figuring the ones making the racket are males?

My preference would be for the cage to be turned on its side but it is the bottom that has the nice pull out try and rack for ease of cleaning, so for now they have to make due with what sq. footage they have. The long term plan is to get them somewhere on the dirt in the yard but this is what we have for now. The don't seem to "get" how to get into the hanging plant yet so I will put it on the bottom and maybe try to create a second teir for them to increase the area they can sit around on. But they must not hate it too much as is because we got 4 eggs yesterday!
