Do quail need roosts or nest boxes?

Nice flashy site and iPad friendly. Liked the bee story. I have always wanted bees. Seems like someone that I know always has strong reactions to their string.

wow, great to know! I am so low tech I wouldn't know what to do with an iPad! I can tell you the site is on Wordpress.com and I am sure they make every effort to make things streamlined for all the more hi-tech folks! I would highly recommend keeping bees. I am about to post an entry about how much honey we just harvested so sign up to get a notification when I've updated and you'll be able to read all about it! For those you know with sting sensitivities tell them simply to not mess with the box. The bees with leave them alone otherwise. People think the bees are flying around just ready to sting ya. That is not true. The truth is they are far too busy to go around stinging people. There is nectar and pollen and tree sap and water to collect and bring home and honey and wax to make and baby bees to feed, etc. And when they sting ya 1 time, they die so that would be sort of inconvenient for them! Sorry, to go on about it on a quail forum post, but I needed to say at least that much! PM for more info.

i am doing something similar with my bunch of quail - I want to raise them but I like to watch them so much before hand that I want to have an interesting habitat for them. I have a hoop coop that I had made for a chicken tractor - I am working on converting it into a quail pen - probably stationary. - going to wire the floor, and place shallow tubberware containers in the bottom - one with soil and the others with sand, and add a few potted plants for foliage/cover. the top is covered with a tarp right now, but figure for extra security I am going to add a short open shelter for them to go into for when its cooler or it rains.
