Do Ravens attack chickens???? Help please!

Yes ravens can hurt and kill chickens but mine have been around for years and depend on the feed the chickens provide daily here but also adore the donated egg's the free range chickens provide on a morning bases ......

But I haven't lost a chick to them in years and they do keep the red tailed hawks away that will kill an adult chicken with ease and carry it off...

And the hawks are protected here and there is no legal reason to kill the hawks here .......

I just walked (well, ran) out of the house to see three ravens standing over our adult silkie. Our GSD chased them off, but they stayed in the tree for about 20 mins. Scary.

That was not a day for you at all ....

May ravens eat the chicken feed but I have never had an attack before but it is nesting time for them do you put out any corn for the ravens to eat as the ravens do keep the hawks away and I do like having mine around ....

Quote: We just moved in here two weeks ago, so we're still settling in and trying to figure out what predators are going to be a problem for us. There haven't been any chickens on the property for quite a few years, if ever. Where we lived before we had bobcat and coyote, but a nesting pair of crows drove all hawks away. I actually saw some crows chasing a big raven this weekend. I love crows! The ravens make me nervous.

Do you have your chicken coop and run all set up yet ...

I know how hard it is to move ...

I just happened to look out a window a few moments ago and saw a raven tearing apart my Call duck, Jasper. This has never happened before. I have never lost a duckling or chick to ravens and certainly not a full grown call duck. The ravens this year are huge. He was at least twice the size of Jasper and there is a pond too so I don't understand why none of the ducks or geese went into the pond when the raven appeared. About an hour earlier, my son had chased 2 ravens out of the barn for fear they would get into the nests and take eggs. Instead one of them killed Jasper. :hitWhat can we do that would keep the ravens away? The raven killed Jasper, just a short time before Jasper was fine and there was no fox. The whole area is fenced off and fox don't get in. I thought ravens only finished off what predators have killed.

Nothing can get to our ducks apart from something that can fly into the enclosure. He was just fine a short while before. When we picked him up, he was still warm and bleeding profusely from his wounds that were on the back of his neck. Even if a raccoon would have climbed over the 6 foot fence, it would have taken Jasper, not just bite him on the back of the neck and we would have seen it. The only predators that we did see were the ravens. I called a few people in the area and some have had problems with ravens this year also. One lady saw a raven pick up her silkie and dropped it from a height and then the raven swooped down pecking the poor silkie. We are convinced the raven killed the Call Duck.
