Do Rooster prefer hens of their own breed and color?

We have 7 hens and 1 BR roo. They are all 15 weeks old. 2 of the hens are letting the roo mate with them. I hope eggs will follow soon. The roo is attacking one of our BO hens. She has a small pink comb as do most of the hens. He chases her and pecks her very hard once he gets her. She screams so loud and flies up into the fencing in the run. I am afraid she"ll hurt herself. He is always nice to the 2 BR hens but is frequently grumpy with the 5 BO hens. Do rooster prefer hens of their own breed and color? I know it sounds strange but he is always around one of the BR hens like they are "in love". It's crazy he hates that BO hen and she is calm and really nice just like all of them.

While chickens will seggragate somewhat by breed, (birds of a feather flock together) roosters are not really that picky.

They do have their favorites that they will hangout with more often, but not always the same breed.

For a long while my BR roo's favorite was a white leghorn, even though he has 6 BR hens with him also.

Our roosters prefer bantam hens! we used to have one that lived at the neighbors during the day because the roosters raped her all day long.

They like who they like and you cant really control that. My little d'uccle roo LOVES my large fowl golden campine. He will still hop on any chicken with a pulse but prefers this one girl.

same here. My Faverolle Roo-he IS a beauty just LUUUVES my one BR hen----even tho he has many other Favvies to choose from.

my RIR roo prefers one of the EE's, I dont think the RIR girls allow him to mate even though I have seen him do the rooster dance for them. There is one RIR girl who tries to stay out of his way like she is afraid of him and Ive seen him chase her off half heartedly but never really go after her.

Definitely not. I have only two Polish bantams, a hen and a roo. They look totally different than everyone else in the flock...

So guess what - the rooster totally picks on the hen & they HATE each other. I think because she looks different than everyone else, and he has no clue what he looks like!
