Yet, my hens have correct light, correct nutrition, they are the correct age, 2 of them do not lay that much, yet since I introduced back the rooster (as I needed fertilized eggs) now I get 5 eggs out of 5 hens, almost every day, when before it was 3-4 a day. Maybe "happiness" has something to do with it, the rooster is a handsome guy and they seem very happy to be with him and follow him around in a funny "congo-line". Somewhat, maybe they do boost egg production.
