We adopted some hurricane IKE pullets a while back and some of those girls took forever to start maybe 9-10 months, but once they started they have been like machines. The one who is waiting for something good....

I bought 6 EE babies last spring and around 6-7 months old I got a beautiful rainbow of green and blue eggs and assumed they were all laying. When they were around 10.5 months old I started getting a mysterious pinkish egg with white speckles - what the????

I only have 2 brown egg layers - a RIR and a BR and I recognize what their eggs look like. I finally concluded it must be one of the EEs - a late bloomer. I've tried isolating different hens to see who lays the pink egg, but alas it's still a mystery!

If I knew she wasn't laying, I would've culled her, so I'm glad I didn't know all that time!

My black cochin will be a year old in 10 days and she's never laid an egg. She is a perfect pet chcicken!

My sister has an EE that isn't laying yet either and she will be a year old soon. Sounds like EEs are late bloomers when it comes to laying. My EEs are nearly 3 weeks old and are the most developed (feather wise) and are my largest chicks.

I have a Barred Rock that will be a year old in May, and she's never laid an egg. She's the largest and seems healthy. My "chicken man" at the feed store told me it's uncommon, but some hens are born without an oviduct. He told me I could bring her back and exchange her. No way! She's one of my friendliest and loves to sit in my lap. I can't imagine her roasting in someone's oven (shudder). It's just a birth defect, if you will. Fortunately, she got into the right human family, who will love her as she is.

I bileave so, I have one RIR hen which is exactly one year old and she never ever laied an egg.

We have a Swedish flower hen that’s laid daily for 2 months. Then she just stopped totally. She hasn’t laid an egg in roughly 7 months now. She is very healthy and def no stress Bc she is spoiled rotten. Never understood why she stopped???

I have a chicken that has never laid an egg. I’ve never seen her go in a box or cluck or act like she wanted too lay an egg? We got her and her sister last spring. Her sister lays eggs. Tractor Supply said she was a Black Asian ? She’s a big hen and blue black, very pretty .. I was just searching for answers.. I guess chickens like humans are all unique... side note I have two polish who didn’t lay until maybe 11 month old. They sometimes give me 3 eggs a day!!!! I have no clue how this happens.

OK, so maybe I should just give her a while. Being a new chicken owner you just never know what "normal" is. Thanks for the input.

I have an Astrolorp that has never been in the nest boxes nor has she ever laid an egg. Been keeping chickens and roosters almost 10 years. I rarely see this beauty do much of anything chicken. I’m not sure if I recall her ever in a molt! She’s 1.5 yrs old.
