+++Do some hens NOT lay eggs??+++

I have a Barred Rock that will be a year old in May, and she's never laid an egg. She's the largest and seems healthy. My "chicken man" at the feed store told me it's uncommon, but some hens are born without an oviduct. He told me I could bring her back and exchange her. No way! She's one of my friendliest and loves to sit in my lap. I can't imagine her roasting in someone's oven (shudder). It's just a birth defect, if you will. Fortunately, she got into the right human family, who will love her as she is.
