I have 4 roosters, 2 silver laced Cochins & 2 Buff Brahmas that have not crowed at all. Are these 2 breeds late bloomers or do they not crow?? All are a little over 4 months old. The hens we got at the same time are just starting to lay.

In my experience all my roos crowed. Your girls are right on time for laying, I have heard some did'nt begin to lay until they were 7 months old

I hope so! One of my suspected boys just started crowing his beak off at six weeks old. The other suspected roo has not made a sound. It would be a very nice surprise if he is a hen, but I would settle for a very quiet rooster!

I have two Barred rock Roosters that were hatched March 18, 2009. One started attempting to crow last week and I got an excited call from my daughter this morning that one was crowing. I was beginning to wonder myself if they'd start.

well if they are bantams they still have some growing to do i think i raise silkies and they take a long time to mature. the turkens i have are a little over 4 mo old and crow all the time.

I really wish there was ONE type of rooster that didnt crow...

I would give anything to keep a rooster and hatch my own babies!

I know that ALL roosters crow... mine started crowing at about two and a half months. Maybe its just taking a while.

Every chicken is different!

Do you have any other roosters that do crow?

In my experience the only rooster of mine that crows is the head rooster.

A few days after I got rid of my BA head honcho roo, my cochin roo started crowing for the first time. He was about 7 months old.
