I know this sounds like a dumb questions but I have not had an egg from my Americauna in 2 days very strange for her, and one day I get 10 eggs from my layers and then another day I am lucky to get 4-5 my girls are 1 year old hens, but why does it seem like something is happening to my eggs, could a squirrel steal the eggs and would they I didn't think that they ate eggs I am new to all of this so I am sorry if this is a stupid question, we had some kind of predator in our yard it went past all my chickens and stole an egg, because the golf ball I use was outside in the pen and the egg that was there was gone my DD thought it was a cat (she is blind in one eye and the other is not doing well) she said it was a small cat could it have been a squirrel? I am so confused.

Good then I am not crazy I let my girls free range all day so they go in and out of pen to the coop to lay eggs and get a bite to eat so now how do I fix this problem I can't shoot in town would a bb gun kill a squirrel my son would be happy to skin and gut it, I am sure I can find a nice reciepe to use them in I wonder what the law is about shooting them anyone know where i could look it up at. thanks for the help.

God I hope not, I have not seen any snakes but my girls free range all day and go to the pen/coop to lay and get a bite to eat so I am not sure what to do now.
