Do they eat their own poop?

chickens are natures garbage disposal, my friends grandpa raised them and pigs and goats, he said chickens will eat stuff pigs and goats wont tuch.

Well, I just caught mine doing it - mostly the 2 week olds. Up until today, they ignored it and when they got some on their beak, they would wipe and wipe. But someone started eating it today and the rest saw her eating something 'special' so they chased after her, so she guarded it and finished it off as quickly as she could. So NOW they all think it's a precious treat. Ugh!

I guess it good to know that this is normal and to just turn away and go to my happy place. Good advice.
