I think it's a great idea to have DH ask. If your dad thinks he's doing you a favor by visiting, as opposed to being a burden (I know he's not going to be a burden, but that's probably what he thinks), how can he say no?

Good luck! I know how tough it is when your parents live far away.

I think since he seems to like/respect your DH, its a great idea. And the fact that he didnt argue with you about flying out there, well, that has to be a GOOD thing, right? Maybe he is feeling his mortality?

Maybe if you guys can afford it, offer to fly to Tampa, get your dad and fly back to Arkansas together. I'm scared to death to fly alone these days. Well, more the airport hassle but maybe something like that might help persuade him.
