Do Welsummers have fluffy cheeks?

So.....I was sold this pullet at Rural King and told it was a Welsummer pullet. She is about 2.5 months old now (may be older....when I bought her she had already lost her down). I already know something is "odd" as she has dark legs and I've been told Welsummers have yellow legs. On top of that she is now developing fluffy cheek feathers. What the heck???? What is she? Is "she" even a "she"??

Hmmmmm, so you think she's still a hen (not a rooster). If she is an easter egger what type of eggs will she lay?

I think it's a she but others will be more confident. Blue, green, in between, or possibly brown if it's an EE. They are very popular!

She is almost certainly a 'she' going by head shape and tail (With pea combs, it's difficult to sex by comb so I don't bother.) She should lay green or blue eggs. Easter Eggers are crossbred chickens--Ameracaunas are the parent stock, usually, and then they're crossed with a brown egg layer to get green eggs or a white egg layer to get more blue eggs.

EEs usually have muffs, green or slate-colored legs, and pea combs. Ameracaunas look much the same, except that they are generally or solid color (usually blue or black) and are far more expensive than Easter Eggers.

Hatchery EEs are not crossbreeds. They are the descendants of the same birds as Ameraucanas and Araucanas, they just were not selectively bred to meet those standards. As a result, their appearance is much more varied.

Definitely an EE. A very pretty one at that! But hmmmmm....... I'm not super confident sexing it right now... @sylviethecochin are you seeing those saddlefeathers? Is it me, or do they look a little longer than what we generally see in a hen, also, does it loolk like the tail is starting to curl at the top? I defer to your expertise!! Maybe it's just the angle of the pic... I don't know!?!

You may be right. I think she looks like a girl, but I wouldn't stake a great deal of money on it on it--maybe ten bucks (consider that a relative measure of how certain I am.) And that back tail feather does look like it's curling a bit.
