do you consider brisket to be bbq?

I guess it depends upon how it's cooked.

I love brisket, grilled on the barbie, flame broiled and baked....

I thought bbq was the sauce & spices put on certain meats when grilling, smoking or baking?

Aren't pork, chicken, brisket, ribs, etc all just meats until you add the bbq sauce?

I'm confused lol.

all true. bbq is how it is cooked but i have trouble placing brisket in that category. tech it is bbq but i call brisket, brisket.

and my grandfather thought me that.

well thats only one state out of 50...so the odds are so far not in your favor....

Brisket is just the cut of meat. If we BBQ it, we call it BBQ brisket. Otherwise, it's just brisket, or corned beef, or whatever meal we make out of it, and how we prepare it.

I'm from Arkansas originally, so really anything that's not pork, is just pretending to be BBQ!

We don't call the ribs BBQ ribs, though. We just call them ribs, because of course they're BBQ'd, because there's really no other way to cook them! LOL!

I think I'm going to go defrost some ribs for dinner, now!

Pork, of course, never beef!
