Do you count your chickens before bed?

I have around 30 and I count still. I didn't do a full count last night and two got left out. 😱 Almost got gotten by raccoons. Bad me! Usually I do a full count by breaking them into groups and counting groups (Four australorps, two leghorns, one rooster, 10 hens, 8 pullets, 6 cockerels) but they're getting hard to see them all....

I've counted up to 85 or so, by counting groups. It does work! My winter flock of about forty can be tricky, but can be counted. Very difficult while in motion, but not so hard when roosting. It also give us a chance to make sure no other critters are hiding in the coop.
