do you eat chicken? just curious....

I haven't eaten animal products for years. But crave them sometimes. Though after adopting our first chicks, I never craved chicken again. Looking into those sweet little faces, I just cannot associate them with food anymore. But if you really do care about the welfare of the animals, I would suggest you don't buy animal products. The conditions of these farms are horrendous.

I love to eat chicken. It's my favorite food. But I would never eat my chickens(Maybe a mean roo,but never my hens).I have no problem with anyone that does eat their own fresh meat

I stopped eating all meat and fish when I got my barnyard fowl this year - somehow really didn't want to eat anything like my birds anymore, and I certainly think the cattle are in just as unfavorable spot in life, as well, though I don't have any. I do eat eggs, which could be argued is not that different from eating the meat - could be a living thing, too. Have not missed eating meat, either, by the way. I suspect I'll have no reason to revert to being a meateater.

Frankly, Iʻm amazed! For a site dedicated to backyard farmers and people with small estate farms, its beginning to sound like a PETA forum!

Chickens are food. Sometimes they are "cute" food, but as all of our Momʻs told us: "Quit playing with your food!" While they may become pets, that is an unnatural state for them. Even in the wild, they are food for predators. We just happen to be at the top of the predator chain plus we control the means of chicken production by providing food and water. Our obligation is to treat them with respect and humanely for the contribution they provide to our nurtritional in-take.

So, unless you want to become a pure vegetarian and eschew all meats whether store bought or home raised, quit agonizing and become a member of the new PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals !

My family and I don't eat any animal products except for eggs from my chickens, so we're almost vegan, and have been for many years. And I don't try to force my hens to lay with extra light or anything. They're my pets, and to me they're not "food" any more then the cats and dogs and horses and rabbits that we keep as pets are.

Nope, I'm a vegetarian. Have been since Feb of 2008 after seeing a KFC chicken video.. it was horrific.
And i never crave meat. When i smell it or look at it it makesme lose my appetite.

I ate my first home-grown, home-processed bird tonight. He was wonderful. We toasted him, reminisced over the fun we had this summer, planned for next summer's flock. I have 8 of his girls in my freezer and 5 in the coop working on laying for me. Did I feel just a little weird eating "Red"? Yes, but the rest of the freezer pack don't have names, so I think the weirdness is over. Thank you for asking.
