Do you eat Turkey eggs?

Oooooooooooh ok. Gotcha. ;) My girls do the same thing as far as hiding their nest. :barnie And then 35 days later, I see 12 ducklings and mama marching home. :he
She thinks her boyfriend has fertilized her eggs..

How would you break it to her  :gig

I love turkey eggs and eat them all the time! My friends thought I was weird when I told them I frequently ate turkey egg omelets for breakfast. They came over and tried the eggs and now they don't think I'm weird anymore. :)

Poor girl... you need to get het s proper boyfriend so she can have some babies....
Carlton would not like that ;) :gig

I didn't want a drake because I had a bad experience with my first trying to mate my chickens. That can be deadly, so I am a bit stand-offish. I want to find her some fertile eggs and replace them. By the way, I found her hiding spot >:) She had a really safe place right behind the barn door. We had a piece of plywood leaning against the barn and she had snuck behind there.

well... what are you waiting for ... looks like she wants to be a mama... that and it might stop the unfortunate relationship developing there... Although they do make a cute couple!
Chickens make my life so much fuller with thier antics....thanks

I have 12 call ducks from the last time I tried to switch out her eggs. She did not want to be a mother after that, and went back to laying/hiding her nest.

No eggs available anywhere I've looked. I don't know what to do for her :idunno - Should I give her chicken eggs? lol

So if I have 3 Bronze turkeys who are about 5 months old (and they are meat turkeys-not pets), I'd have to have them hang around until spring to try a turkey egg??? I haven't witnessed anybody trying to cross breed (we have turkeys/ducks/chickens)... who knows. No roosters or toms. Just one drake. He's a little on the aggressive side, so he doesn't get to play with everyone. We have a special part of the yard for him called "duck jail". I am not super thrilled with duck eggs either. The whites of the eggs seem to be wetter when you cook them. I can mix them with chicken eggs and they aren't too bad. And that is with a lot of salt/pepper and onion powder. LOTS of onion powder. Kind of gamey? They do make a richer cake. But now I'm tempted to hold onto one of my annoying turkeys to try turkey egg. (sorry guys, maybe its because they are MEAT turkeys to us?? there is NO love or patience for them! they just irritate me)

Okay. I just posted a few days ago. My turkeys are almost at the 6 month mark. We found some funny looking eggs (speckled) on the ground for the past few days. I thought it was one of my chickens, I even thought, "do I need something to supplement for that?". Then we got a bigger egg today, and it was in our turkey house. Yup. It's a turkey egg! The turkeys we had last year never laid a single egg. This is yet, a new adventure for us.

Very cool!!!! That must have been a very confusing but fun find lol. Ive always heard they wouldnt lay til the following spring after they hatch. Are you gonna try to eat it?

we have 3 that are the size of chicken eggs, and one that must be full sized now. (similar to a duck size) i think so? after hearing some people say how much they like the turkey eggs, i want to know! quite random. didn't even think of getting eggs out of our turkeys, because they are supposed to be meat!
