Do you feed BOSS in the summer?

Safflower and Black Oil Sunflower seed are both around 16 to 17 percent protein..

Chris

The statistics I read put safflower at 21%. If I find the reference I'll post it.

ETA Actually, I'm low. 24%. See here.

That is the Protein percentage for Safflower Seed Meal not the whole seed..
This Quote is from your link you posted:
The meal, which is about 24 percent protein and high in fiber, is used as a protein supplement for livestock and poultry feed. Safflower seed also is marketed as birdseed

That is the same with Sunflower Seed, the protein will go up when it is processed into Sunflower Seed Meal.
Quote from the National Sunflower Association:
This process called ‘dehulling’ or ‘decortication’ results in a sunflower meal with protein levels above 30% and fiber levels of 21% and below.

I feed BOSS all year-round with the addition of scratch when it gets cooler. My girls love it and I really think it helps with egg production. It seems I get more eggs when I feed it

But, that could just be a conincidence!
