Do you feed Purina ONE Lamb and Rice?

Yes, exactly!

And, Frizzled, my GSD is the reason I switched to TOTW, he is a different dog on it! It is really good stuff!

I didn't start this thread to see if what I was feeding was a good food, I started it to see if anyone else feeding the same thing was having issues with diarrhea, in order to see if maybe there was a problem with that particular batch of food made.

Scooter was fine on rice and chicken, but when I put him back on the ONE he had diarrhea again. I'm going to be switching him to either TOTW Pacific Salmon or California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato. Thanks for the replies.

That has got to be the worst food for dogs! I feed my dogs raw food!

We feed 4health to our dogs, they are doing great on it.

We used to feed Purina dog chow, they switched the formula, and it made my older Chihuahua sick.

I have a 8 pound bag of Purina one that was given to me with the newest foster dog (Chihuahua also) she is doing great on it, but I will be switching her to the 4health with the rest of the gang!

Ole Roy was the ONLY food that our Black Labrador could eat with out breaking out in huge scabs all over, it was dandruff looking scabs and he would shed like crazy, even on TOTW. Put him back on Ole Roy and he would heal up and not shed or dig his skin! Odd huh!?

Every dog is different. Some will do good on one brand that others hate and cant eat.

As far as Dobermans go, my friend breeds and shows them, she ONLY feeds her dogs Purina ProPlan performance. Her dogs coats are beyond gorgeous, she mainly has reds, and a few blacks. I wish I had photos of her dogs to show you all. They make peoples jaws drop!

I fed Pro Plan for quite some time but then I checked out the web site I posted somewhere in this thread, Dog Food Analysis, and I found it to be a little wanting in quality of ingredients...my dogs looked good on it...they ate it...they liked it, but the bags got smaller and the price got higher and after checking out the other foods, dollar for dollar and quality of ingredients led me to TOW and a couple of others...

regarding blue Dobermans...I have no answers but google Blue Doberman Syndrome or go to the Doberman Pincher Clup of America wed site and follow the links...I think they have a fair amount of information about blue Doberman coat issues...blue coats are most often, not always, but most often, very problematic...

The 4Health dog food at Tractor Supply is not too bad...I liked the Performance formula the best...the fewest fillers I think was the issue...I fed a fw bags of that until my local feed store could get me the TOW at such a good price and the dogs liked it and did will on it...it is 34.79 for a 35 lb bag and I can get a TOW 30 lb bag at my feed sotre for 35.79...the feed sotre is 11 miles away and Tractor Supply is like 20 plus miles...I think it all balances out for me to feed TOW...

I too switched to TOTW after reading the Dog Food Analysis link. I thought I was doing good buying what I thought WAS premimum foods from Petsmart but discovered the Nutro or Max was at the bottom because of the grains - corn mostly.

My three dogs would go through bouts of upset tummy - eating grass - and then throwing up in the middle of the night or diarrhea once a week.

My local feed store sells it for $39-41.00. No more throwing up or diarrhea. And my ausie no longer has itchy skin.

That sold me on it, so I switched the cats as well. Much less poo in the cat box and no longer throwing up.

I'm a single woman working part-time but it's important to me to do the best for the pets I take on the responsibility for.

You can't do better unless you know what better is.
