Do you garden?

Well, I leave the gardening to my husband, and he leaves the chickens to me

Thanks for the tip... I'm sure I'll be using it. The bush in the pic is loaded with green tomatoes.

We did pick a couple of the ripest for salsa for lunch today.

YES!! This was our first year of SERIOUS gardening. We went from a 20'x20' plot of tomatoes & peppers to 2-
2200 sqf plots. One has/had tomatoes, potatoes, beans, peas, cukes, peppers, zucchini, lettuce, carrots, red beets, various herbs, and cantaloupe. The other is sweet corn and watermelon. We canned for the first time also. 72 qts. of this and that. Have dried 30lbs of stuff, & froze 40-50 lbs.
Next year we are going to add a strawberry patch and another 600 sqf for more potatoes. The chickens are eating high on the hog this year. It also cut the feed bill down to almost nothing for the summer.

Yes, but because I live in a townhouse community, my gardening space is very limited. (That probably makes DH happy because I probably spend around $200 on plants every year -- including annuals and bulbs). I plan to have a bigger garden when we have a house. I am very into landscaping, walkway gardens and pond gardens.

Yesterday, I planted 32 tulip bulbs and 16 daffodil bulbs in my front garden. I need to get a little more topsoil to add to that garden, but otherwise it's "done" for the year. I will be setting up some cornstalks and fall-themed things in that garden now that it is autumn.

I also have a sidewalk garden which is still in full bloom. Here are some pics of this year's sidewalk garden...

Like my rooster statue?

I don't post over at TheEasyGarden because I only have so much time to be online and BYC/Facebook/CNN.com take up my time enough already.

Very pretty flowers!!! DBF and I both love to garden. I start all my plants from seeds indoors in my "basement nursery" and sell them in the spring. I focused on heirloom tomatoes this year and planted 67 in my garden. DBF built me a veggie stand last year so I sold them all. His gardens are all ours to eat/can/preserve. We'll be eating beans for the next 10 years!!! And turnips, beets, okra (who says you can't grow that up north!!)

We are always very sad to see summer come to an end.

Ain't that the truth! I don't even like looking out the kitchen window anymore:( All I see is withered tomatoe vines with a bunch of green balls hanging on them, a couple of yellow cukes, a few green peppers, plus the beets and carrots that are that are still growing. I'm already laying out next years floor plan

I used to have a garden. Big beautiful garden,,, then the hens found it. A few green lumps on stripped vines,,, a red pepper here,,,and over there,,,,a lot of brown dirt,,,,a few dusting spots,,,,chicken tracts everywhere,,,,thats all I'm growing now,,, chicken tracts,,,,,
