Do you guys name your chicks?

Ahhh yes they are all named! All 42 of them. The kids help me name them. I can't tell the 6 astralorps apart.... But they're named.

I never named any of my chickens until I got married about 6 years ago. My hubby thinks they're pets, so..........
He named the 3 that I hatched out a couple weeks ago: Larry, Moe & Curly.

I'm hoping that doesn't mean they are all roos.

eta: The Buff Orpington's names are interchangeable, I can't tell em apart.

I keep my chickens as pets, so all of them get names and I can tell all of them apart. I don't name my birds until about six weeks old, though, so I know the actual gender before naming them.

I thought for sure I was going to name all my chicks. I also thought 2 years down the road I will still be able to make chicken soup, mostly cause it won't be me doing the deed. As of now only one of our chicks has a name, and it's one of my Orps. She is huge, I though she was a roo for a bit because she is so big. So her name is Big Momma, or Big Mommy as my 3 year old calls her. Hubby has started calling the smaller Orp Little Momma, but I don't think that is sticking. Will I name the others? Maybe, if a good one comes to me. Will I still be able to eat them? I have no idea, I will cross that bridge when I get there.

My first two batches of chicks all had names, except for five packing peanuts that came with my second batch.

This time around, only two of the 15 chicks have gotten names. Out of our four ducklings, the two that survived got names. Maybe that will change down the road, but there's simply too many look-alikes in this batch, I think. The four Leghorns are indistinguishable. Same for the White faced black Spanish cockerels. It was a lot easier to name chicks when there was ONE of each breed!

well out of my six EE the black one with speckles is Slim Shady and the pure white one is Cracka' two that have darker heads are called dusks and the two with reder heads are called dawn. my two white bantams are both named double the black one is named Den-O and the brown and black one is named Nixon

I have only ever named two chicks. One was a LF barred cochin that I named Baby Huey which turned into Baby and a defective buff orpington that I named Kevin. Kevin is a female and I named her after the bird in my avatar from the movie "UP". I usually wait til they start laying or crowing to give them a name that really fits.

Scramble ~ Golden Laced Polish
Marshmallow ~ LF white cochin
Solar Chicken ~ EE with a vitamin D deficiency
Lucy and Ethel ~ cinnamon queens
2 Toe ~ Red sex link with a toe that grew backwards
Jellybean ~ LF Black cochin son says she looks like a black jellybean with feet
Twisted sister ~ LF buff cochin with chicken scoliosis
Tweed ~ Dark Brahma Bantam
Fluffernutter ~ EE
Peanut and Butter ~ 2 buff orpingtons
