Here's Mackie our sheltie puppy (a couple of weeks ago) giving a high five.

He will eventually guard the flock, but right he mostly barks at them :)

We haven't let him too close to the ducks for now, there is always a fence between them.
He still has a hard time figuring out what is a chew toy and what is not.

The ducks don't seem too impressed by him anyway, they mostly ignore him :)

I want a jack russell or spaniel

I think a show type cocker spaniel might be the calmest
But with my M.E. I can't walk more than a few steps so I'd need a electric wheelchair for walkies

I do like shelties but rarely see them advertised and when they do they cost a fortune £800
Jack Russell's are about £200 and cocker spaniels £300-450

How much are dogs in US?

dogs in the US cost a little bit. If you want a purebred your looking at a couple 100 dollars, if your talking mutts from the SPC (Humane society) then 120, If you want them from the doggie pound then they are 40 dollars, including pit bulls and other things
