Almost always around here. Thursdays is my husband's bowling league (just until May) and then once a month I go out with a friend for dinner, other than that we're always at the table. When my husband has bowling it's usually an easier supper. Like tonight's is going to be homemade ring bologna (baloney?) and saurkraut and some kind of potato. Haven't decided that yet. I may just throw it all into one fry pan and do it that way. Easier.

There were also a few times at the beginning of this pregnancy that I didn't eat with the family because the smell of the food made me incredibly sick, but then I felt really guilty about not eating with my husband and my daughter!

Even the nights we have just a pile of rice for supper we eat together. Those are usually the nights the conversation is something like this:
"What should we have?"
"I don't know, what do you want?"
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking you."
"Let's just have some rice then."

Planning doesn't work around here. I can make up meal plans, but then either I don't feel like eating what's on the menu or my husband doesn't, so it gets scrapped. We are trying to find more hotdishes and the like that are easy to make.

That was the first house rule when I got custody of my boys.. We will always eat together and at the table.. They came from a home that NEVER ate together not even on holidays.. The boys were encouraged to eat in their bedroom (
