Do you hide food from your family?

You're right. It should be up to the person receiving the gift if they want to share.
Godiva Chocolates (sigh). I gave my daughter a box for Valentine's one year. Bless her heart, she offered to share with her dad and me

I had to put a lock on my pantry for my kids, cause they believe that If what they see needs to get eaten by them or they won't get any. So a bag of chips lasts 2 hrs amongst my 3 sons

Pens, pencils, a pencil sharpener (there are always other available, but I keep one just in case), tape, and drawing paper. My friend gave my kids an entire box of paper that she couldn't use in her printer because the paper has holes in it so it can be put right into a binder. So she thought my kids would like to use it. Man, they went through that box FAST! Their (annoyingly) favorite thing to do is make snowflakes. That means folding a sheet of paper and then cutting it into geometrical shapes, and then not cleaning the scraps up behind themselves. My younger DD is notorious for doing this. And so now when I get paper, it's put away and given in moderation.

Yes. When I go grocery shopping in the town an hour away, I bring my husband a treat and one for me. It is always something special that we like.

He enjoys his right away and it is gone. I will savor mine over several days, but if hubby sees me enjoying my treat, he will bug me for what I have left. So I hide mine.
I can see hiding things to keep people from being obese or health reasons, but hiding it to keep from other people is lack of teaching good eating habits! Buy healthier snacks!

We always have healthy snacks available. Treats are in a different class of food.
It is not my place to teach my husband good manners. He is 64 YO and if he doesn't know better than to horn in on MY treat, not much I can do about it. So I hide mine. He knows I hide it and has not a word to say. I don't have kids which would be the only other people it is my obligation to teach anything to. No one else.

So, muscle in on my french fried onions in a can, you best watch that your fingers stay the length they are now.

Yes I have hidden treats. I usually put special treats up in the cabinet where only me or my hubby can reach them. I do share with him.

The kids get plenty of treats. So if I want to pick up something special for us I do.
I also have to hide the Scotch tape. If I don't do that my six year old son will have the chickens and the geese and all our other family members taped to the house.

The worst part is that I am dead serious.

When my son was 6 he was obssessed with poking things with a screwdriver. I had tons of holes in my couch, because he wanted to see what made it bounce - same with his mattress, the car seat, pillows, canned food, etc.
