bmelanco, I take great offense to you treating us like we are somehow uneducated because we hug and kiss our chickens. I know all about germs, and of course I wash my hands. For your information I have two children. Both were premees. My daughter how is now 13, was also born with hydrocephulus. Look it up. She has had 9 shunt revisions, 2 sets of burr holes, Triple herrinah operation, Tubes in and out of ears. Severe acid reflux, to the point of throwing up, Asthma to the point where she would wake up gasping for air and be blue. She spent lots of time in and out of the hospital, not to mention that she could never gain weight, and that she is behind other kids her age due to the hydrocephulus. I was married to my first husband for 11 years. The night I left untill now almost 4 years later she has never had another asthma attack. She is gaining weight and doing wonderful. When I was married to the first guy my house was spottless. We got rid of pets and steam cleaned the carpet every 6 months. But we were miserable. Now I am remarried and we are so happy. We have 3 cats, 2 dogs, fish, and a chicken living IN the house. We also have 9 more girls outside. My house is clean. I mop my floor twice a day and I do go around cleaning up after Gabby the chicken, but the 5 second rule does not apply here. Just let what ever hits the floor be eaten by whatever gets there first.
So here is the point to my rant.
Sometimes germs just don't matter. Being happy, whatever that takes, is the most important thing you can do for your soul, your health, and your family.
