Do you know people who are ALWAYS sick?

I have several friends who are ALWAYS sick. Most of the times they aren't really sick at all, but it seems like are always complaining about something. It's always "I have such a headache" or "My stomach hurts so much". I know I rarely complain about ailments unless they are really bad or affect my activities for that day.

I don't know why it bothers me so much that people complain...I guess its more the fact that these friends ALWAYS have some sort of ailment, and they insist on talking about it ALL the time. I realize they probably do sometimes really have headaches, but seriously! Do I really need to know about the bruise you got climbing out of bed or the fact that you drank too much milk and it made you feel sick?

Sometimes I just have days that make me want to pull out my hair! Doesn't make it any better that one of these girls is my room mate!

How many others know people like this?

I'm always sick.

I try not to complain.

If there's a bug going around I catch it. I also have chronic food allergies and migraines. My parents each have health issues and I've inherited them all.

It stinks. I hate being sick all the time. I try to do what I can, but, yes, people get... sick... of my being sick all the time. Even my DH just has started coping with it by ignoring me when I'm sick again.

Not that there aren't hypochondriacs out there-- I'm just not one of them. I really AM sick all of the time.

Haha, I realize there ARE people who are actually sick all the time. My friend is not that kind of person though! Sometimes I think she complains just to complain. Most of the time I ignore it, but she really does get annoying. Honestly, I'm a diabetic and I often have high or low blood sugar and I feel like crap. I don't go around complain to every person in my general area though!

I guess I just hate the constant negativity all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love my room mate dearly. I just hate that she always complains.

Well now Deb is your comment based on research or just you opinion?
Maybe the roommate isn't always complaining maybe it's just that you hear what you want to hear. Do you try some positive suggestions like. "Have you called the doctor?" or "I'm sure you'll be fine." Maybe you should, maybe you should just ignore it and focus on your chickens. Try a little humor. "Can I get you some asprin or aresnic?"

RN, what do you expect where you work? If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. If your that uncompassionate you probably should.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were all as healthy as a horse.
Right now I've got a cold and my ear is plugged. This is going on one week. I am very susceptible to colds and allergies. I've been this way since I was a kid. Doctors look in my ears and can't believe the scar tissue on my ear drums.
I have arthritis in my knees.............oh ta heck with it.
I wish I didn't have the pain but I do. Doctors say there is nothing they can do. I've had surgery. I've listened to more people say "have you tried this?" "Did the doctors do this?" I hate doctors. I hate commercials that claim to have miracle working drugs.
I have good days and bad days and there is no way of predicting.
I am glad you are healthy. Maybe your a horse. Just kidding. Gotta keep my sense of humor, since I no longer have a job due to my physical problems.
My employer claimed they didn't have any work within my doctors restrictions. I've got prescriptions that are expensive. Some days I get tired of being me.
For all of you who are healthy count your blessings. If it bothers you to be around sick people find some other friends. Start a healthy only people club.
My wife just came home with more meds. Thanks for the encouragement! Look, I know this sounds gruff but really with all the problems in the world can it really be that bad?
What's that about "a spoon full of sugar?"

Are you related to me? COPD, arthritis, crappy doctors..... I do work with a gal that is never REALLY sick, just complains about it all the time. I am one that has months in a row when I am sick.... But like I said, I tend to keep it myself. The ones that are truly unhealthy are ususally quiet about it.

OMG I cannot STAND the people who constantly say "my stomach hurts" or "I have a headache - I think it's a migraine" or "I get food poisoning all the time," etc. etc.

Debiraymond put it PERFECTLY. People who are really sick don't talk about it. People who are rarely if ever sick pick out little things and complain A LOT because they are needy and looking for attention.

I think I have no tolerance for it because I have been around a lot of real, true sickness and suffering. True migraines are debilitating and people do really get them and they don't walk around with you and whine, "I think I'm having a migraine." They are generally at home in the dark, balled up on the couch trying not to vomit or pass out from the pain. Real and true food poisoning is a horrific deal as well and generally lands people in the hospital and can kill. True, you can get a mild case here or there (though I never have) but if you get it "all the time" then you had better change your eating habits. And as for "my stomach hurts" - that is my personal favorite. Stomach pain does not exist without a cause. Stomachs just don't "hurt" sometimes. I could go on and on. It's always driven me crazy. I am SO with you on this one, Chickerdoodle.

My best friend in high school was always sick or injured in some way. It was always highly exaggerated and I really tired of it after a few years.

p.s. Rancher Hicks - I don't think you count as someone who is complaining for no reason. But, I bet you don't whine about every little thing all the time. Because you have real and serious health problems, it is an ongoing issue for you, but you don't complain about nothing all the time. I am just guessing. I think this post is more about generally truly healthy people who are seeking attention by complaining about tiny or made-up ailments. That doesn't sound like you at all!
