When my son was in 4th grade he brought home a saxophone. He mastered that and moved on to trombone, french horn, bass guitar, electric guitar and acoustic guitar. By the time he was 12 years old he had a garage band. Extremely hard rock, screaming lyrics. I lived with it. I grew up with my mother constantly telling me my music was satanic - Aerosmith, Zepplin, Kiss, etc....

I always went to the concerts my son played at, took pictures and proudly told anyone who care I was the lead singer/screamers mother. I hated every second of it too. And I wouldn't change a thing today.

I love the music my kid's listen to as they pretty much like the same music I do!

I gave them a classical education in music

...so they love classic rock, southern rock, blues, bluegrass, country(especially classics from the 70s and 80s) and some of the old rap like ToneLoc, Hammer, etc.

I listen to theirs, they listen to mine! Cant tell you how many times one of mine has asked if I like a song they're listening to only to have me reply, "Oh, yeah, great song, but I like the ORIGINAL version better..."

Yes....

That happens more and more, doesn't it? I was disgusted and shocked when Madonna tried to do American Pie. Who in the world allowed THAT tragedy?

On the other hand, I can't tell you how thrilled...and frustrated...I get when I have to ask my 19 yr. old son~again!~ to please return my Three Dog Night CD!

I did listen to Marilyn Manson. I got tired with it after a while. And realized that I like the feelgood music. But my mom never minded my taste of music for that period of time. Now I listen to Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin and quite a few country music singers.

Really couldn't answer the question. My oldest son (17) listens to a wide variety of music (except country). I hate Screamo (don't understand how screaming is considered music), but he also listens to music DH and I like as well. We just went to a STYX and YES concert on July 4th as a family and had a blast!

I don't think my parents even listen to music.

They have iPods, but there's nothing on them. Therefore they don't really care what I listen to, but I have to agree with a couple of previous posts in that most mainstream music gets on my nerves too, although there are the odd good ones.

I listen to classical music only, unless my father turns on some 60s-70s-early80s music. :lol:Otherwise, I seem to hate the un-creative way music is now days.

Have you listened to the Five Finger Deathpunch remake of "Bad Company"? Honestly one of the best covers I have ever heard! And the video is awesome

Five Finger Deathpunch? I'd not listen out of sheer protest of their poor choice of a band name!

Naw, haven't quite got around to expanding my music vocabulary towards bands of such...er...uh....distinction.
