Do you own American Gamefowl and if not, Why?

Hi and welcome. I don't. Should I? Aren't they a bantam breed that you have to keep the roosters tied up separately so they don't kill each other? Other than that, which may or may not be true, I really don't know anything about them. I have LF that I like to free range and I think smaller breeds might be more subject to predation by hawks. Am I wrong?

I'm not even close to an expert on them but they are LF. On the smaller side of LF compared to a lot of others.
Yes males don't get along. As far as free range I'd almost bet there's no better breed for it. Games are closer to their ancestors then other breeds. Very good survival instincts and the athleticism to pull it off.
I've heard hens don't lay as well as others but they do make the best broodies so self sustainable is there too.

I believe only strange males will kill each other. Family members usually get along fine unless they're confined and artificially isolated. I've had a trio of American Game brothers that got along perfectly with zero fighting whatsoever
Thank you both for that info! I think I'll pass, though, one thing I do NOT need is broody hens!
