Do you paint or linoleum your roosts?

I always have 30 gal or so of paint leftover every yr from various jobs, so I mix them together and paint my coop/runs once a yr.

I actually believe that P/T wood no longer has arsenic in it, I could be wrong but I'm certain it's a copper solution or something now. I used 2x4 kiln dried, my supports (its a leaning roost) are P/T painted because its all I had at the time LOL

My poor chicks don't have their roosts yet. They are wanting to roost so bad that if I stand still too long they will fly up and roost on my arm. I must do something about that.

Davaroo has a great idea. I have some woods on the back of my 5 acres. I'm sure I could find some interesting branch -- maybe even with a little artistic quality to it. I did put a a driftwood looking log in their run and they all love that. I just found it under an old fir tree.

Yes, the p/t wood sold today in N America does not contain arsenic (older stuff does) but it is still not great to have your birds standing barefoot on it 12 hrs a day. Sometimes you can get away with it, at least for a while, sometimes not. Whereas, regular plain lumber (or tree branch) is 100% safe 100% of the time.
