Do you prefer duck eggs over chicken eggs?

A definate yes for me. I don't so much notice a huge difference in taste. (My chickens and ducks are housed together, get the same feed and free-range together). The duck eggs may be a littler stronger, but I much prefer the difference in texture. The duck eggs hold up so much better. Although, not much white to fill if you make deviled eggs.

older eggs part from the shells easier. save the eggs for a week or so before you boil them. If you boil an egg and it clings to the shell, then it is fresher, if you can just peel off the shell the egg is a couple of weeks old

I always found them to be a bit rubbery for me. Plus it didn't help that I watched them eat tons of slugs and then when we opened the eggs mom always said they were rubbery because of all the healthy slugs they ate..ugh. But for recipies and baking they are fantastic!

All my birds are free ranged, chickens and ducks. I had chickens first and some people were shocked that they ate earthworms, bugs, etc. even when I said that mine were probably healthier than factory farmed layers, and the eggs tasted better as well.
Yes, ducks love slugs. Seriously they don't make the eggs rubbery.
Try using duck eggs in a frittata or an omelette. you won't even notice that they're from ducks.

I made my first deviled duck eggs for Thanksgiving. I did leave them a week before boiling them. A couple were a bit tricky to peal, but the guests absolutely devoured them. I did have a lot of yolk mixture left over because of the huge yolks, but the dogs got their Thanksgiving treat because of that. What a nice unique HorsD'Oeuvre. Did I really see duck eggs for $20.00?

Reading all the comments is making me really hungry for some duck eggs!

I guess I'll have to try them out!

The consensus in my household is that the quiche made from duck eggs is better than the chicken egg ones. They seem to taste the same, but the consistency is different, in a good way.

My older chicken ladies are molting and my young chicken girls are not yet laying so it is duck eggs or store eggs...I have 23 ducks who are just beginning to lay and am getting 6 or 7 eggs every morning...I bake with them and fry them up for breakfast...can't really tell much different in taste...consistency is a bit different but taste? Not so much...my ducks get game bird feed, oat meal, corn and free range between trips to the feeders and the pools...eggs are really good...ducks are very happy...they do grumble when I "steal" the eggs...
