Do you prefer duck eggs over chicken eggs?

We get fresh eggs everyday, but I've been wondering about the taste of duck eggs. Are they worth trying? I've never had one before, and I was wondering which ones are better.

Just wondering.

I cannot tell much difference, but I get free-range eggs from my chickens, so they are more flavorful than store-bought eggs. The whites on the duck eggs are firmer, so you have to be careful not to overcook them if you fry them, but I think they are great.

I sell my duck eggs to a restaurant in town whose chef likes to use them practically interchangeably with chicken eggs. He catered a luncheon including egg salad sandwiches and only used duck eggs. Nobody complained or even mentioned them, and he's had a repeat order.

My chickens are on winter strike right now. I don't use supplementary light, just let nature take its course. Heh, farm chores - every morning I go out and collect the egg. So if I want to eat eggs I use duck eggs.

They seem to have a stronger flavor, which is fine with me.They do make excellent egg salad, but I like them scrambled and fried as well.

I make quiche with my weekly eggs. It's excellent.

Duck eggs are far superior, but seem to make messy deviled eggs - I just can't get those darn shells off cleanly!

LOL Everyone seems to say they are good! I will have to say no, I do not like them! The smell, the taste, just makes me not want to eat breakfast!

I absolutely love them and honestly can't taste any difference. There's a definite difference in consistency though. The whites are firmer and the yolks are thicker. The shells are also harder. I usually hard boil them the same way I do the chicken eggs (learned on here). Bring the water to a boil and then add the eggs. I boil the duck eggs and huge chicken eggs for 16 minutes then drain and soak in cold water until they are cool, then put them in the fridge. Usually they peel just fine but sometimes they are tricky.

We've had mixed reviews from our egg customers. Those that can tell the difference really like them; others don't like them because the shells are too hard so the jury is still out.

Grew up eating them, can't wait to have them again. I remember them being richer and more flavorful than the eggs laid by our chickens. I may, however, have been biased.
