We just put it out when we have extra eggs. We put the eggs in cooler on an old lemonade stand with a jar of money. No one's ever stolen it. Though once someone knocked it over! (I'm sure it was an accident. Our neighbors are great.)
In New York you can sell eggs or other farm products on your property without a license. If you process the food, though, or sell your eggs for resale, then you do need a license.
