Do you "talk" to your eggs?

I'm trying to hatch eggs under a broody hen......just went out to see if there was any pipping.
Nada......however, I did speak words of encouragement to the silent egg.

Put 2 other eggs under her today that appear to be fertile......maybe when my granchickie comes to visit this month I can teach her chicken talk. Does your daughter have any word suggestions?

Bop bop bop was a good one, but peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy was the downright winner. That and shouting KININ! a lot (she can't manage chicken yet, it's kinin!)

"Kinin" how cute! Its entertaining to listen to yougin's speak.
I used to be the only "eema" in town

( granchickie couldn't say Grama)

My granchickie is 9yrs old, and just as silly as the rest of us "kinin's", I reckon she'll come up with a unique chicken call.

Enjoy that kadinkle of yers!!

Oh I do, every day, even if she doesn't always enjoy me! She's a pure dote, and Kinins are what I call all my chickens now, it kinda gets hard to explain when trying to order eggs on the phone...

"Um, hi, I'm looking for a few buff orpington eggs, yeah, yeah, half a dozen will be fine, um, yeah, yeah, I should have enough kinins this year by then..." what?!?!?

Not trying to shut down your "talking to eggs" thread or anything (because I am absolutely certain *I* will be talking to mine once I start!!!), but the reason those ducklings love you so much is because of the imprinting process with ducklings. The first thing they see when they hatch is their Momma, and if that's YOU, then you're their Momma.

Actually, thats not true..........at all. I hatch PLENTY and even though they see you first, they dont like you! Trust me, I only use incubators and the chicks still dont like me. To get them to be comfortable, they must imprint which requires three straight says of them being with you constantly!

Yes, I talk to my eggs and when they are born and I start talking to them they stop what they are doing and look at me....after I have them out and they are on the ground several weeks from the brooder when they see me coming..they all start running to the fence to meet me even if they have food and water....I love them so much...

Did EXACTLY the same thing with my chicks!
Now they're 12 weeks old and outside in the big coop, but as soon as they hear my voice,
(yes, I talk to them all the way from the back door to the coop

)
they're all gathered at the fence and following me around when I go inside the coop.

It warms my heart to see how love pays off when yer jus a weebit goofy with yer yikens!

I talked to all of them when they were rocking and chirping and pipping.I had one who would cheep back everytime I talked to her then start pecking her shell super hard LOL, I think she was excited to see who was yelling at her to get out of the eggie.

I agree with the above, I had hatchery ducklings some years back and one imprinted on me the other imprinted on the other ducklings and they grew out to be very social friendly birds. I've also had duck raised ducklings that were as friendly as could be. it depends one a number of things, not just imprinting.

And yes I talk to my eggs, my babies and my adult birds.

I talk to my eggs all the time. When they start peeping in the egg, I peep back. It's awesome when you peep to an egg while candleing and it peeps back at you. I think that's my kids' favorite part.
