DO YOU THINK MY COOP AND RUN ARE BIG ENOUGH FOR 14 HENS???

I think you are going to be ok starting out. It is awesome your dad is helping you and you are raising birds at 13 years of age! You may lose a bird or two starting out. I have 14 birds in a 8x10 coop with a 10x10 run attached. I also let them free range when someone is around to help watch over them. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't add anymore birds. Especially if you consider meat and egg chickens are raised in a 18"x18" square cage. Then again I raise my chickens for eggs and meat not pets. I don't have anything against folks who raise them for pets with benefits. Personally I just won't get so attached to the bird that I could not eat it. JMHO

The good thing is that it looks like from your photos it would be pretty simple to expand your run toward the back (toward the blue tarp I see in the background)....

The main fence looks like deer/bird netting. You can get a 100' roll for $14 or a 50" roll for $8 at Lowe's and make a huge run. It's easy to set up and move around etc. Only thing, it's not predator proof; it's barely chicken proof but makes for a good temporary run, day pen, supervised free ranging or whatever you want to call it.

Thanks to everyone who commented, I read them all! Sadly, there isn't a Lowe's where I live. me and my dad are going to start expanding the run today!

Cool! It's going to be wonderful! I just know it! :)

Here are some suggestions from this old fogey.

Take all that unneeded stuff out of the run, the bucket, tire and block. Since your pop door is so close to the ground you can remove the ramp as well, be surprised at the room that will provide.

I think the roosts need a little adjusting too. Since you have lighter weight birds I would simply see if dad will fix the roosts you have horizontially about 30-36 inches off the floor. The breeds you have will have no issues reaching it. The bars are simply too close together to allow the birds to roost comfortably and you are probably going to end up with poopy back birds. If that is not doable then you will need to cut out every other bar and you will also need to add additional roosts. Old ladders make great roosts. I just nabbed one yesterday morning someone had out with their trash.

Keep up the good work and get ready for lots and lots of eggs.

Tell dad we are proud of him for all his hard work and keep up your responsibilities with them as you are the one who wished to have them.

Good luck
