Hey guys,
I have a broody hen that has been sitting on 2 eggs. Today is day 22, and they haven't hatched or shown any signs of hatching. I'm worried because in the last week, the hen got off the eggs, twice, and the eggs weren't warm anymore. I had the pen divided, but there was space above the divider board, and she somehow got over there and got out. the weather was in the 90's, so not really cold. They wouldn't have set for more than an hour or two. Because is went out and checked several times a day to make sure all was well. One of the eggs looks fully developed, ready to hatch. The other one is about 2/3 black, with a bigger sac, which makes me think maybe it died....I think i will wait a couple more days, because i don't want to crack open an egg, and see it was alive......
What do you guys think?
TIA

Stuff the eggs into your bra, it'll only be a day or 2 until they hatch! I've heard that it works...... and pics would be helpful too. Thank you. :thumbsup

Well i have them under a hen. I don't think that would be necessary.....
What do you want pics of? The candled eggs?

Can you take the two eggs into a closet now, candle them and look for movement.
Listen to them too.
X2 what @KikisGirls said, whatever you do, please do not float test them.
When was the last time you candled them and saw life?

They are probably dead but I doubt it is because the hen got off of them for an hour.
Thank you everyone for replying. This morning, I gently shook them, and could hear liquid moving, so I knew they were rotten. This is the first day they did that.
So,I cracked them open, and I saw that they had started developing, because I saw red tissue and stuff, but the weirdest thing was, the yolk was boiled. Like a boiled egg. It was separate too.
I know these were developing normally, because I candled them early on, and saw the embryo and blood vessels.
I had another egg do this too, the yolk boiled. But I just thought it wasn't fertile. Because I never did see blood vessels or anything.
This is so weird.......
