Do you vaccinate your chickens?

Do you believe in vaccinating your chickens?

No I wouldn’t get them vaxxed. I had a cat that needed dental surgery, the vet insisted on him getting all his shots first, so I caved. The cat has one problem after another ever since. Could it be unrelated? I suppose….. but if you look into the history of vaccines, I think you might find what I did. Vaccines have never been about health…..it’s about money.

Correlation is not causation. Your anecdote is, as a matter of risk assessment, irrelevant at best, inflamatory at worst, but mostly somewhere well positioned on the scale of ignorant.

Even so, you are entitled to your world view, and the consequences thereof. My condolences regarding the cat.

ignorant? Why? Because I question the safety of vaccines?

I don't vaccinate my birds, not because I don't trust the vaccines or something, just a personal preference. I just let them build a natural immunity to whatever is around them, and try my best not to introduce disease into the flock.
Yes! I do the same thing (actually I was just about to write this before you did). Plus a couple years ago we vaccinated our cats and one of them ended up dying to a bad reaction to the vaccine.

I'm sorry that your cat is having issues, I suppose it just depends on the animal and how they react to it.

Because you blame vaccines for a series of health events your cat suffered with no relationship other than timing, while discounting that the cat was already sick before getting any vaccines - or it would not have been in need of dental surgery. That's just sloppy.

and your blind assertion of a profit motive as if that somehow makes vaccines suspect - though there would be no vaccines in this country if the Gov't hadn't stepped in to prevent the US legal system from pummeling the companies into bankruptcy each time an attorney successfully empanelled a jury who shared your view of science.

Quite simply, reality does not comport with your world view.

I have been there. unfortunately my cat died.

how do you explain: my little cousin was born in good health. he was 18 months old, talked, walked before he got vaccinated. then he became autistic. the same thing happened to a friend of mine who's kid got vaccinated at the age of 3. the same thing with the neighbor of mine, age 3,5 when got vaccinated. and many other. I am talking about 2 different countries, so it is not local. they are the reason I don't trust vaccines.

It's not about anecdotes, it's about probabilities, statistics, and risk management. That's why they do efficacy trials with thousands of participants and continue to collect data as a vaccine is rolled out.

The largest impediment to vaccinating poultry is having to buy a thousand doses and use them all within a few days. I'd think about it if we could buy a dozen doses at a reasonable cost. As it stands, we take on an additional risk when both buying chicks and hatching our own.

So vaccines cause autism in chickens? Obviously ludicrous on its face, as is any pretense at science or statistics in the claim above.

At this point, I must conclude you are either:

a) a troll account.
b) lacking the needed grounding in science, mathematics, and medicine to be worth more of my time on this subject
c) both of the above.

You are not alone in such classification. Good day to you.
