Do you wash fresh eggs? Refrigerate or no?

Thank you!, Collect, quick "hot water bath" refrigerate all in a 48 hour window of time to be safe, bake or sell with your homemade lemonade stand.............Love your web site, and your first 2 posts pulled it all together for me.

All eggs I sell for eating are washed, eggs I put in my fridge for our own personal consumption are only washed if needed, sometimes just a spot wash...No eggs I sell for hatching touch a drop of water..

I don't want to be rude on my first day here but I have to say this. Regarding eggs coming out of the same hole as poop, I'd say you are as far off as my 9th grade Human Biology teacher who said that women urinate through their vaginas!!!! Chickens lay eggs through their oviduct and not their rectums! (I apologize if I offended anyone!)

Following this thread, very good info for me, waiting. meantime. I did put some fake eggs in a nest, the boxes are low but in the coop, so if they lay during the day will they go up inside to do it?

Recalling the last time I had pullet eggs, isn't the yolk about full size?

Congratulations on eggs so young, I'm still waiting........

My babies were 14 weeks on Saturday, so I'm getting really anxious now!!
We have one black sex link that has a larger comb than the others, and was making me nervous, thinking *she* might be a *he*... however in looking online at other hens, some do have larger combs and are hens, so I guess not to worry...YET...

We don't wash the eggs, and we store them on the counter. If there's any mess on the eggs, we wipe it off with a damp paper towel.

However, we only have four hens, so we're not dealing with dozens of eggs at a time.

glad I found this thread, my first egg was a fairly smooth tan egg, 3 days ago, the second a 'rubber egg' late 2 days ago, yesterday no egg. today although the nest looks 'nested' in i found an egg on the ground, but it looks a bit different then the first egg and it's a little dirty, we were gone most of the day so I don't know how long it was there. it's the same color as the first, but a bit smaller and rougher? i've got 3 hens squatting out of the 7, one an easter egger, one barred rock and one NH Red. so I'm confused.
