Do your chickens like rain?

My first bunch of chickens hated rain. If there was so much as a cloud in the sky they would'nt come out. These birds I have now seem to think they are ducks. They are always out in the rain. Today I slept late. When I got up I found that my wire had let the birds out in a 40 degree rain they were soaked to the bone and not seeming to mind at all. Is this weird? It's supposed to get down to freezing later. I'm thinking these birds don't know what's good for them.

Not weird at all. Mine frequently stand in the rain until they look like a soaked cat. They have a nice, dry and warm coop, but they prefer to stand in the rain. I guess they want a shower.

Now bring out the hose, and they'll kill themselves trying to get away.

I think with chickens there are two kinds of water.

1. Rain water. (Goooood!)

2. Water that comes from the big green snake in the yard. (BAD!)

Ours love the rain, hate snow. You would swear the little white flakes were trying to kill them. Walk into the coop with snow on your boots though, and they will run over each other trying to peck it off and eat it.
