Do your geese ever honk at the wild geese flying over?

Mine don't act like they are even aware that they are there.

Only once did I see them take notice and a small flock was flying very low right over them. They looked up and honked some that time.

There is a huge field about a block away that is a major wild goose gathering place and again, mine seem to not be aware of all that goose commotion.

I always thought mine would react to seeing some geese flying overhead but even if the wild geese are flying low and being very loud the most my geese will do is look up and they rarely do that. Yet they honk at every other thing they see.

My geese will honk at the wild flocks as they fly over. The will also honk at airplanes and hawks! I would think that they would want to be quiet when a hawk is around, but not them. They also will honk at a car that is 1/2 mile down the road and I am not able to hear it yet. They seem to have great hearing.

I had a rescue Canada goose for a while. My geese did not seem to recognize her as a goose. I don't think they speak the same language, at all.

Of course they don't speak the same language---their Canadian!!

Mine do the same thing. I believe they are warning my ducks and chickens of impending danger. When my goose lets out her honk, it seems everything in the barnyard stops in it's tracks and looks around.

heh heh. actually I think you are right.

My sebastopols do not react to the wild canadas flying over, BUT my cackling geese do!
Cackling geese are a sub-species of canadas.
